I searched for this on hear and on the web for a long time and couldn't find it.
I think my friend got confused with inverted flam tap or something.

Anyway does this rudiment exsit?
If so, how do you play it?

A regular diddle is a double stroke followed by a single stroke like (rrl)
An inverted diddle is a single stroke followed by a double stroke in the same rhythm (rll).

You can invert rolls also. (rrllrrllrrll) becomes rllrrllrrllr)
For more information, check out Slammin' Hybrids. It has several exercises that work on this sticking combination.

I believe a diddle is just two notes played on one hand in succession, so there is no way to invert it. It's true that you can change the rhythms/notes/whatever up like geefunk said, but I don't think that's actually an inverted diddle. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think inverting a diddle is possible.

Or you could thank him for introducing you to a new timing and quality-wise difficult variation on the double stroke roll.

I wouldn't call the rllrrl figure an inverted roll, I would call it an offset roll as the change of hand is offset by one note value.

It's called an inverted roll both in rudimental logic and in Greg's book.

Oddly enough, I think I'd trust Bill Bachman and Greg (geefunk) over 99.5% of people in the drumming world.

But that's just me.

I'm not saying you or they are wrong. "Called" meant "named" in that last post. I just don't think the name fits what it is.

Every time I have been asked to play them, I played this-

Kind of like really open alternating drags.
