Highroller, I wasn't calling stuff like 8 on a hand "fancy" thats what I was telling him to do. Go to vic Firth and look at Bill Bachmans get good quick plan it is exactly what you said. Maybe you should actually read a post before criticizing it.

the way you posted that it sounded like you were saying that the basics are fancy, that's how i took it and i do actually read all of the post before i respond, so maybe you should be a little more clearer in you writing. You also said nothing about bill bachman and vic firth.

I would play single 6's, double stroke, triple stroke them, and paradiddle-diddle them as an excercise, with the singles as a check measure in between. If that doesn't work, give up. But seriously, just play them with no fingers leaving the sticks until you get it.
