push through the roll, a common problem is people slow down A LOT when they play, so I recommend to just keep pushing your feet, that'll push time, that will push you hand.

Another thing to do is to make sure that play through the head, your stroke when playing 8's and triplet diddle should be the same.

make sure you have a clean first diddle on the roll, or you will drag.

hope that helps!

Highroller, I wasn't calling stuff like 8 on a hand "fancy" thats what I was telling him to do. Go to vic Firth and look at Bill Bachmans get good quick plan it is exactly what you said. Maybe you should actually read a post before criticizing it.

the way you posted that it sounded like you were saying that the basics are fancy, that's how i took it and i do actually read all of the post before i respond, so maybe you should be a little more clearer in you writing. You also said nothing about bill bachman and vic firth.

I would play single 6's, double stroke, triple stroke them, and paradiddle-diddle them as an excercise, with the singles as a check measure in between. If that doesn't work, give up.
But seriously, just play them with no fingers leaving the sticks until you get it.
