Worst high school line EVER!

I've seen some bad drummers in my day, but recently I was helping out a smaller high school close to my town and it was by far the worst thing I had ever seen. They can't count, they don't march, they have NO technique, and their section leader can't even do a roll. They wanted me to teach them stuff and I dont know what to do. I can't really teach them anything up to par, but they don't have the time or patience to let me teach them....and the sad thing is that they have a bigger line than my school. ANY advice about what to do here would help.

Hmmmm....try and help them out. just see wat you can do. and if the line at your school is any good have them go over and try and teach these guys a few things. just start with the basics and work your way up.

Thats the thing though. they don't have a band class so they can only do their stuff after school, and since they have such a busy schedule I we cant really tech them. The lady that teaches them has never even played a drum before....

I would suggest some type of sectional time...I know you said that their schedules are busy, but if they want to further their skills then they will be more than willing to lend you extra time to get something done...

that really sucks but i'd just start out with explaining good technique and how to put your feet to your music and start slow by just playing some 8's good luck on that lol

Thanks you guys, those are some good ideas. I'll see what I can do for 'em. Hehehehe I'm starting my tenor lessons this week so who knows what I'll be doing.

Do they even have a drumline or are they just like marching snares, tenors, and basses mounted in the pit? Some people do that.
First work on technique and then for gods sake teach that person to roll...then work on the cool stuff.
