Okay, I searched and didn't find anything, so here I go

Is it posible to do a 6-8" shot configuration using the stock Yamaha back bar rail?

I know you can get the 3rd party rail and do it, but can you do it with the stock Yamaha one?

The reason I ask is beacuse next year we are getting new tenors to replace the small sets the school got us when it opened. Some of us were thinking of taking off the old 8" drum and using it as a second shot on the new set. I know there would some drill involed most likely.

Has anyone ever tried this before?

Or, does someone have a set of the large Yamaha feild corps(10, 12, 13, 14") that they can measure and see how much room there is between the back rail and the drum 2

any help I would greatly appricate, thanks

I can check tomorrow when I go to practice. If my memory serves me right, it would be a rather tight squeeze.

You cannot fit the 8 in the space on yamahas, even with a large set. The only options are to buy a different bar, or fabricate extensions onto where the bar connects to drums 3 and 4, pushing it further back.

Be careful if you use extensions, weak metal will shift on you and your drums will be farther away.

He's right. Even last year's design didn't really fit the double sixes that well. They fixed it for this year, but it's still quite a tight squeeze.

So...if you really want to do it, you would have to use something like the XL rail.

They used the XL rail system.

I already tried what you are talking about. I brought this up in a previous post. The stock Randall-May hardware will not work. Check it out:
http://www.7200.com/jesse/

That's basically all custom work I had to do. If you want the info on how to really do it, just hit me up through e-mail or aim.
