i have a couple of issues,
1) my bass line can play split parts like crazy, but when its applied to music they go retarded on me, i have even tried starting a few measures previous to the trouble spot to see if it's a transition problem, in which case, they nail it, but as soon as its put back together and run in sequence, its back to the short bus.

2)im trying to get my top two bass drummers to play split eggbeaters over a triplet subdivision
(e.g.)
123 123 1
45 45

I've seen this problem too many times with too many drumlines. I think the best way to fix play the entire piece slowly and gradually speed up the entire piece until it is up to beat. If they can't play it at the tempo you give them, go slower, as long as you gradually build up in tempo.

Sorry, but I don't know how to help you with the eggbeaters.

I agree with Temple. Repetition at a speed that they can play is the only way they will ever get it together. Just pushing them into it will only frustrate them more and thus decrease they ability to play at the moment. You have to first build up their confidence on the part especially in sequence. Then slowly start building up the tempo. It's your best shot at the moment. Good luck.

Noob alert. Do not double post.
Oh yeah. Also with the eggbeaters, i'd say start slow. The best way to teach it to them is the count triplets while playing the eights. Take it slow like this and see how that works for you. Honestly, I can't see a useful application for it, but I remember those days in high school where it was fun just to make up crazy stuff like that. So, best of luck to you on that. Have a great season.
