If you get four other guys and you practice hard enough to where everybody is playing with the same technique and all the runs sound like one guy playing five drums its the coolest sounding accomplishment in the world.

its a matter of team work.. i mean, it is one thing to get a good snare or tenor line, because they all play the same thing. but if you have a good bass line then thats even better because then you have 5 players that have 5 different parts that have learned to play them together and make it sound good. it is hard work to make 5 different drums and 5 different people play fluidly and exactly on time. cause once you miss your note thats it, you have screwed up the run and everyone knows. if one snare or tenor screws up, nobody can tell just from sound. you have got to rely on others to be there and when they're not you have got to learn to trust yourself.... i dont know, its just a feeling ya get when you hear that you are part of that amazing run, it is just flat out awesome.

totally. It takes alot a lot more work from the 5 person bass line to get good than it does for the snares or tenors. No matter how anyone looks at it, the bassline puts in alot a lot of work to get good.

I love it because of the splits, also because of the friends you can make.

yeah...that too. I've already posted about this but I'm going to post again. All the hard work the bass line puts into playing 32nd note splits, sixtuplet splits and all that other funky junk. Its just the best feeling in the world to hear it all come together and people just know when you're a good bass line, regardless of them being a former musician or not. And the fact that you solo everytime you put that drum on. You're one of 4-9 people soloing every song depending on the music.

i love it because its a team effort snares and quads can improvise each other if one doesn't know the part but if a bass drummer doesn't know the part the whole bass line goes down. so its a team effort you work as a team you succeed as a team.

I love playing 2nd bass (or any bass drum) because of all the split parts and when your friends with people in the bass line it makes it even more fun. Playing the top bass drums is also cool because you get to play more notes.

I love the connection my bass line has. We all just like to have fun with eachother. All of us are so unique. I specifically love being on first bass, because to me, it's an opportunity for me to "show off" what I have to offer, since I get a lot of solo spots. When you're all in the zone together, you get such an awesome vibe, and it makes it so much easier to nail the splits.

bassline is like an elite fraternity that only five people get into every year in the band. i like it because not only do you learn your part, but i have been learning everyone else's part as well. it is far more fun than snare or tenors. they get all the glory, but the basses are the ones who drive the band

I love the splits! Everyone can play tough beats and stuff but not everyone can play splits! I personally think it's the hardest drum
