To build real strength, its gonna hurt, on your right thumb-palm muscles, and your left will burn at first. Ignore people that tell you it won't. The key to good muscle development, however, is to warm up your muscles, (eights, bucks, etc.) and do not stretch them to quick in to your practice session( of course start with technique, especially if you have weak hands) . But someone who says it won't hurt, can't play heights worth a crap. strength exercises like tripple beat, and accent tap when played for literally hours, will give you chops, don't cheat yourself, play it right and slow, and if you CAN, speed up. Work on the 26 standard rudiments, and throw in other ones later.
