How many of you guys out there play/have heard of this all-puprpose warmup? I saw the sheet music to it once, it's basically all your normal warmups just put into one sheet of music. The people who showed it to me said I was crazy for never having heard of it. But then again, I come from a school where our drum techs always write all our exercises/music/cadences/etc and we never use stuff from companies, schools, corps. So, is this a fairly well known piece, or are these kids just blowing it out of proportion?

The way i guessed it is that it was a pretty common thing in schools which are prematurely footbal bands. My school is very heavy on the competition scale, which would explain why we don't use it.

I've never heard of it. We always write our own warmups.

The Ultimate Warm-Up is a full marching band warmup that last about 2-3 minutes (usually taken at march tempo). It IS a known piece by mostly mildly competitive marching bands in the states. The thing about the warm-up is that it tends to steer away from its purpose for the horns and woodwinds, while it focuses on important facts the percussion section (sticking, stick heights, dynamics, etc). It's a pretty easy warmup.

There is a similar warm-up, called Maximum Strength Warm-up, that follows the same concepts and some patterns. I've heard some drumlines change their parts to make it a bit more challenging (and groovy), which IMO is a good idea.

In my last year of teaching a competetive program, we used the first four sections of Ultimate Warm-up for our on-field warmup. I wouldn't say it was the Ultimate warmup, but it did serve its limited purpose.

I had not heard of it either until that time. They are blowing it way out of proportion.

that is our school's warmup, its kinda fun, but the drumline does its own warm-up in adddition to that one. for on field we do from "G" to the end. the big chords part.

I think I'm glad that our school uses tech written stuff only. It definantly separates us from the rest of the groups out there.

Besides, my drum tech was actually able to sell off a bass part he wrote for an exercise called 4-2-1 Northstar

I've heard of the Ultimate Warm-Up...our band uses it before they go on the field and Maximum Strength too. I wouldn't say we used the big chord parts as an on field warm-up, but I have broke out with Ditty for the fun on it.

My band uses maximum strength warm-ups every year.
I dont mind it to much even though it is really easy.
