What kind of unique implements have you used on marching bass drums? one of my personal favorites is using promark thunder rods. it's a unique sound, little softer, but kinda a brush on bass. very nice effect if you can fit it in.

I had my Bassline use Dredlocks for the opening statement in the Percussion Feature Last year as well as Lightning rods. up close it sounded ok but from the stands i was pleased with the effect.

My line's never used anything unique. The most "unique" thing we've used are our puffy sticks for a softer and more "muffled" sound. :\

Well, that doesn't seem like much fun. :/

My old instructor showed us videos of his old lines where they took some ordinary brooms and cut the handles down to size so it would be easier to play. It made a pretty cool effect...

I have used blades and dredlocks before. They give really neat effects.

Last year, during our ballad, the bassline used dreadlocks, jingle sticks, and blasticks. Really neat effect.

My line has used puffy mallets before, as well as rim clamps with rivets. Pretty cool stuff.

My bassline had ribbon crashers mounted on one side.... REALLY cool effect, so you can have the ribbon sound and a regular shot on the other side

we used rutes on ours for a winter show the dreds would have been distasteful, it was cool we had on beat with rutes and a spilt with the right hand on the other side of the drum, we even did it again in our claser but the split was buzzed.
