Make sure your harness fits you right. I've seen many problems coming from harnesses not being correctly suited for ones body. I'm pretty sure once it fits your body properly, the pain will be gone.

I use to go to a chiropractor right after a long rehersal. WOW. It felt so good.

Sorry to say kids it never stops hurting, and this is coming from a guy who has marched a 32 inch bass for two years followed by 6 years on tenors. Drugs (legal) are probably the best aid. Also, don't forget to stretch.

I guess this post would apply to a lot of people currently in everyday rehearsals for drum corps. What I have heard from numerous instructors who have been through it all is to ice, stretch (but not stretch more than you are used to as it can also cause injury), and ADVIL.

And here's to chompchomp. I dont think the pain will ever go completely away. You just have to prevent yourself from injury.

Oh, and march good too. That helps.

AFter a while, if you use good posture. Your back won't hurt anymore. Your body has to get use to it. That's what happened to me last year.

Stretching, good posture , and a well fitting harness all helped me. I would also look into shoe inserts. The insert that I got put some extra spring in my step. It seemed to help in keping me moving and not letting my drum weigh me down too much.

i get over my back pain by having good posture and being relaxed throughout my whole body, meaning, i don't tense up my arms, hands, legs, everything basically. and it works for me.
