This year, the line is doing a drum feature that has a question and answer sequence with a piccolo. Yes a piccolo. It sounds different but it really is awesome. I haven't seen or heard anything else like it. Its gonna rock.

This year is my school's first year to have a percussion feature, or even a fully themed show. In the show opener, the snares and tenors each get 8 measures of feature, then in the percussion feature we start at measure 40 and pretty much chill and jam. We dont have any movement yet, but we hope to make some soon.

In our show this year we came up to the front, stopped and had two snare solos. After each solo they would ding an office bell. Then the whole snare line joined in and played a long roll. After that we all dinged our bells, through them, and started marching again. It was awesome.

Our show doesn't realy have a "drum feature", rather at the end of our first song we play a medium-easy cadence as everyone marches to their next set for their next song. We do the same, only with a harder cadence for the transition inot the next songs. Neither cadence last longer than a minute, so we are more of a filler than a feature. Its a step though, unless written in the stock music we never get solos

Last year we had a whole percussion feature in Oye Como Va. This year, we only get 2 measures of snare solo (which I got to write by the way!) and 2 measures of tenor solo.

This is a link to what my high school did for our drum feature. It starts at 5:15 and is about a minute long.

last year my band played phantom of the opera. the drumline had 3 different breaks. we had one in the beginning of the show, but we were like 10 outside the back hash so it was pretty pointless. we had a salsa type break on the move and a phunk break standing still. this year we played queen and we had one break. two measures of snare, two quads, two bass, and four everyone. that was standing still.

We had to two for measure breaks and one song was a whole drum feature, where our pretend pit - consisting of people marching up to some pit instruments and playing them horribly, not a real pit - accompanied our drumline. There was a snare solo and a tenor solo. The tenor marched left and we had a serious visually where we waved at him as we left to the snare rack, with two toms for all three snares, it was pretty fun.
