What are some Pipe Band rudaments that aren't really used in western drumming? I'd like to incorporate some into a new piece I'm writing.
dead sticks / crush drags
buzzed 7 stroke rolls for 8th notes buzzed 11 stroke rolls for quarter notes
mills (2nd inversion paradiddles) flammed mills (RHF R L R
continuous buzz rolls with accents
extended single phrases with "hiccups" -- for example, a 32nd note single phrase with accents, with a 16th note thrown in the middle of the phrase
b Carnegie Pipes and Drums

He is a good drummer but I definetly wouldn't go that far.
If you use this packet then make sure that you have someone with a scot. background to explain it to you. His interpretation of musical notation is a little suspect to say the least. (Ex 11 stroke rolls)
