Although this doesn't really pertain to Drumlines and Marching, I've no where else to go.

A few days ago, an old friend of mine IM'ed me on AIM out of the blue. We talked, and I told him that I'm auditioning for my school's Drumline. He then asked me if I was interested in joining his Band, a Speed/Death/Thrash Metal mix, as a Drummer. I told him I didn't own a set. He tells me his friend, the Singer, has a Set that he could lend me. That's all fine and dandy, but now I need good speed metal drumsticks. I hear about VF's "Rock" sticks and what not, but I'd rather get a reccomendation from actual Rock Drummers than a Timpanist. (I have nothing against Timpanist's. In fact, I'm a Timpanist.) Any suggestions will be very appreciated.

I have a pair of the VF Rock sticks and they work pretty well, I use them for my pep band alot a lot. The other pair that I use regularly are the VF Extreme 5B, those are nice too, but the Rock ones would probably be more suited to the styles that you'll be playing.

I like Vater 5A, and 5B. They're a little bit shorter of a stick, but they last long for me.

You can use Vic Firth 5A's for almost anything. They are the most versitile sticks imo. They give you the touch to play light and the weight to play heavy. And if treated right, they can last a very long time. I would take them over the rock model anyday.
