Hey all:

Has anyone ever seen / heard a pipe band's drum corps (as in drum section) use Dynasty or Yamaha double snares? I'm sure they're a rarity, as they'd have to have the bottom snares custom fitted for wire ones, but I was curious if Pearl/Andante/Premier completely own the market.

Mike

Are you asking if we know of pipe bands that use them or drum corps that use them? The way you stated the question is confusing.

My pipe band uses Dynasty DFXTs and we like them. We get alot a lot of looks when we show up to a Highland games or parade from the other pipe bands. But hey someone has to start a trend. They sound great its a nice mix between corps style and traditional pipe snares.

Sorry, meant the drum corps (as in drum section) of pipe bands.

When I was at Stone Mountain a number of years ago, Fred Sanford was hanging around the band area with a Yamaha prototype pipe band snare based off the Sforzando. It was sweet! Regrettably, it never made it to market. Probably the best pipe band snare out there right now is the Andante. I haven't heard the Dynasty, but I'm not a fan of their marching band version.
