Hey this is for all of ya'll who have been in DCI....

Im a freshman in high school and i just wanted to know how many pages of drill(on average i guess) a DCI corp will learn.

when i marched Div III we had 129, when i was in Div I we had 198 or more. there are a lot of pages to begin with, but a lot get added in with crazy drill stuff that is usually broken down into subsets of what you already have. either way it will vary place to place.

I'm in high school band and when our bd wrote our show, we originally had like 120 sets, but due to time restraints, we had to cut bout half of it

Lacrossdawg44 - Unfortunately, there is no single answer to your question. The number of sets in a show depends on the corps. Some corps don't move very much and may have only 70 charts total (including subsets) in the show. Other corps can be upwards of 200. The Cavaliers show from 2003 (an extreme, I know, but it goes to show just how wide the range is) had around 360 sets plus subsets for close to 400.

magic 03 had 183 plus subs, Madison 04 had 202, THe way the staff liked it was every set had a subset, so in reality there were 404 spots we were expected to "know"(have in the drill book) and have the original 202 memorized.

What are subsets and how do they differ from sets?

Subsets are checkpoints where you have to be in the middle of a move so that the drill flows properly or so passthroughs and such are clean and clear.

I am in high school and we have 78 drill pages to memorize for four song... thats alot a lot for high school i think
