He's a drummer. He said "suck" to a girl. Of COURSE, he thought something good could possibly come out of that.

Our band does that. There are some occasions where we would sing but not like disasterous bus war or anything.

Drum major is like an assistant band director. When he (band director)'s not there to discipline the kids, drum majors are in charge. If their band director was there and heard him saying "you suck" to the drum major, he could given harshier punishments rather than just telling him to leave his jacket on.

To listen to instructions of leaders and follow them. Band s a group activity. If everybody could do as they want, everything will fall apart. That's why there is drum major(s). They will cover anything band director is missing and try to bring the band together. Therefore you must listen to them and do as they tell you. His drum major didn't give him harsh punishment for saying that she sucks. She just told him to leave his jacket on, which's like nothing comparing to 700 push-ups that he got later on for not following her order.
