Poo-Baby: The rookie in the line who never does what the drum captain asks and is completely rebelious to any veterans.

I would have to agree that I use most of these.

Amber Alert- When someone begins to drift away from the drill during a show, or when someone is setting drill incorrectly, finding themself all alone.

Band Director- The idiot who made us march up and down Duke Univ.'s stadium, back up and back down... (adding the cadance for a higher degree of difficulty)

Dominoes- What the band look like when practicing marching fundimentals, especially if someone falls.

Graveyard- The storage room way in the back of the hall, full of broken heads, old drums, and snapped sticks.

"One handed swimming"- What happens when someone drops a stick.

Water Fountain- The aluminum object attached to the wall. Broken and dented all over from sticks thrown by the instructor.

the one word we use the most for replacing rimshots is CRAT! the T is silent. it sounds like it should be "crack," but we decided that it's easier to say it this way instead. you can use it in something like "crat...o...crat...o...crat...o...crat."
the "o" is the sound we make for the drum.

Very nicely done. My drum major uses a term for long dragged out double stroke rolls, almost as slow as just stroking them out. Fat Cheeseburger - slow rolls sounding like their stroked out. I think it's kind of cool.

You're all in the pool - phrase used to say that the entire ensemble will be playing; commonly responded to by saying "splash"

One term my line sometimes uses is "Cheesecake". It means being lazy, playing a rhythm with a lazy hand or hands, or just plain not doing anything. We got this term from the nickname for drum instructor last year. All he ever talked about was cheesecake. He was a lazy guy, always showed up late and eventually stopped showing up altogether. We instructed ourselves the last couple of contests.
Good Luck, and God Bless.
