Please refrain from telling members to, "shut the hell up."

Everyone can now shut the hell up...
I come from a corps style background and I'm posting a link to this clip to kill this thread once and for all! (YEAH!)

Thats pretty much looks like a show style line...I see tenors over to the right, and the snares are on straps...

Lol.....I think this would be a irrelevant compasrison. I'm not trying to bring this back up but come on now. Show-style is basically based on visuals instead of seeing who can do singles the fastest. I guess you do need SOME chops for show-style, but not as much for DCI.

I have a few questions. First of all: Ya know how Jeff Queen has amazing chops and can play all kinds of crazy hybrid rudiments as can many other Corps style snare drummers? Well, I was wondering if any Show style snare drummers use cheeses and hybrids and stuff and I was also wondering if there are any show style snare drummers that have crazy chops like Jeff Queen or someone like that.

Oh SNAP! What's this?!?!
It's the first Fricken post in the thread...how bout that!

So my answer would be... yes they do play all kinds of crazy hybrids, but as is evident by each video, no they do not play them to the same level or standard. Hence, Corps chops are by far better developed.

I could give a ***t if one of my students could play Cheese ChuChutta Charlies if he can't play them to an extremely high degree. I've seen show style lines play hybrids, but never anyone in show style perform with the control or accuracy that corps style does.

There's a huge difference between ***t bucket hybrids and p*ss clean and dynamic hybrids.

It varies a lot from band to band. Check out the Box (Prarie View A&M's drumline). They use hybrids a lot, and their music is challenging even for a well-seasoned corps-style college line.

I can definitely agree with that (college line to college line). I must have miss understood. I thought we were including all levels of each. So is everyone in agreement then that DCI is in a class of its own? There chops are not to be compared with a college corps style or a college show style? Please do inform me if I have missed the point again.

Oh, I also agree that each has a lot to learn from each other. And I think the top in each genre shows hints of there counterpart. Just my thought though.

Tuo, I was under the impression that this thread is comparing corps-style college marching bands to show-style college marching bands. DCI is definitely on a higher plane than both of these.

Sorry about the miss understanding. I just thought that DCI was included because Jeff Queen was mentioned. That pretty much has been the dominating influence in his style. Again my apologize.
