There was this guy (I won't call his name) who was at a party with a Cadet. He asked her what he played and she said cymbals. He said-and I quote-"JUST CYMBALS?"
She smacked him.

No,drummerwoman,it was not me.It would not be a good move to call this guy's name, and I don't need any problems right now.Besides, like most men,I was raised to never hit a woman under any circumstances. He kicked her butt, from what I heard. Then again, hitting is illegal...so they were both wrong,I guess.

I see what you mean, drummergirl. But personally,I figure you have the right to defend yourself.Let's just say that some family members of mine were hurt, and I was totally powerless to do anything about it.That experience made me a mean S.O.B.(some of the time.)It's not fair for anybody to be beaten, abused, dehumanized, degraded, whatever.
It goes against everything I believe in.
Bottom line:You physically hurt me or my family, male or female,I'll KILL your butt.
Okay,I'm off the soapbox now.

hmmmm im just gonna make a little comment on this type thing...
ok, if a girl or woman hits you, you have all the right to hit her back, see woman have always strived for a more equal world, and i believe this works in the same case...if a girl punches yoiu in yourstomach, i think you can do the same back, maybe not in such a powerful way, but still, i think you have all the right to strike back if needbe.
but anyways, i laugh at your buddy their...he deserved that smack
------------------
-Kevin
NHS Percussion
www.drumlines.org/nhsdrums
punk@drumlines.org

even though i may agree with that i will say that it is still wrong because i know about 20 girls that i would be afraid to hit. Not to mention that a couple of weeks ago there was a fight at my school between 2 girls and the one shattered a glass bottle over the other one's eye. blood everywhere. but i dont think its right when the female gender complains about not having equal this or equal that but they (not all dont get mad at me) complain if a guy wont help them (as an example it isnt fair for a good male basketball player to play a game against a good female. people would complain that that isnt fair because the man would have the advantage)
anyway... enough of that
Thanks for the endorsement, guys.I remember when I was 21 and someone said men are bigger and stronder, therefore a man and woman isn't a fair fight.I said,"Okay, that makes sense."But when people said you just don't hit a woman and wouldn't give me a reason that made sense I said,"What the #$%k?"I;ll follow a rule if I understand what's behind it.It's when you say because I said so or you just don't that I have a problem. Were any of y'all like that?
By the way,I made this an earlier post-how do you do the cymbal grip?

Okay, boys lemme give ya a little insight into this hitting a girl thing.
first of all, yes I know women strive for equal rights and all, but really that shouldnt have anything to do with anything. You guys know that everything we strive for we should be getting already. We're human too........voting.......political offices........ability to be in drumline.........(heehee-had to put that in there) etc, etc
Secondly, I dont think its right to hit anyone.........not just girls.........ANYONE. Thats just my own personal opinion. i think problems can be solved many other ways without violence.
Now to hitting a girl:
Physically:
Guys, think about it. Youknow youre stronger. Its all because you have testosterone and we have estrogen. its a fact of life. Furthermore, we have babies. and our organs can be damaged very easily. Just because of that fact of life you shouldnt want to hit us. We're physically weaker (yeah.....there are exceptions, but thin generally). If you hit us in the stomach we have a chance of becoming infertile whereas you will just say "ugh.' and get on with it.
Morally:
Isnt your mother a girl? How about your girlfriend? When you date a girl do you treat her just like one of the guys? No---you show her respect and try to be a gentlemen. You wouldnt punch her or anything. Thats just not very manly. So why are you gonna sit there and treat a select few with respect and otheres with none?
In conclusion, id just like to say that you dont have to feel the same way I do. If you think hitting a girl is just fine and dandy, then go right ahead. Im not gonna even try to change you. But lemme tell you........theres no way youd be husband material to me (and from what i hear.......there are a lot of men who wouldnt mind being my husband.....heeheehee........sorry for those who arent inthe chiefs club.....youre left out)
Its just not chivalrous.

------------------
I am drummer woman........hear me RRRROOOOOOLLLLL!!!

Yea shes right guys. I fully agree. U know u all are lucky, she spent an hour writting another one that got erased, so she tried to sum it up in ten minutes. BTW, If anyone makes drummerwoman infertile or damages any of her "organs", I am gonna come kick ur @ss (and drumholio better help or I am gonna go try to kick his @ss and might end up getting my @ss kicked ).
-Shes got my back and I got hers (hehe u know what I mean drummerwoman)....
[This message has been edited by Tenor2004 (edited 11-06-2000).]

keep in mind i live in southern maryland....where drunks and rednecks are a common sight(although its becoming modernized...<s>snugglebunny</s> [color:"red"]a lot of it is corn and tobacco fields still)...but anyways...lets close this discussion josh...cuz it can go on forever...and besides..whos to say that women should get easier consequences then men, cuz, if a women punches your mouth, you loose a tooth...i figure...an eye for an eye...you should have the right to defend yourself, and it shouldnt be 'uncivilized' or inproper to hit her back...i just dont see why society doesnt get that part...oh well...thats todays world for ya...screwed up on just about everything...
------------------
-Kevin
NHS Percussion
www.drumlines.org/nhsdrums
punk@drumlines.org

Whisper it in my ear drummerwoman, I can take it no matter what you say. And no, not all girl drummers are hot; only the good girl drummers like drummerwoman (with some exceptions).

Yes,Eric,it's true.I remember the 2nd bass player from high school. The highlight of band camp my sophomore year was seeing her in a bathing suit-OH S^&*!And she was a great bass drummer too-plus she also played oboe, flute, and sax.And she acts too.A real Renaissance woman.

Hey,thanks,Butch! It's not very often someone stands up for someone they don't even know! And yeah, she WAS way out of my league.I wasn't particularly handsome or cool at 15,and besides, how often do juniors date sophomores?(with no car,no less)? Also,I'm an Aries and she's a Capricorn-incompatible.

"how often do juniors date sophomores?"
not too uncommon. But most girls like older men. Its not required that you be older, but you know, it helps. For me, I like the best of both worlds: younger and older. People my own age (like same grade/class/age) dont go very well with me. Theyre at that almost more mature brink, and they fall short. whatever. just rambling. Ill shut up.
------------------
I am drummer woman........hear me RRRROOOOOOLLLLL!!!

"anal retentive"? Now the only time I have ever heard that used is once on a movie which shall remain nameless, and 5 minutes thereafter when my idiot friend decided that it was the coolest movie ever and started using quotes from it. dogmadogmadogma. Oops, did I say that out loud?
