I do not know where to find the covers that usually come with the pit instruments. I need to know if anyone knows of a place they sell them.

Call up the local Yamaha/Pearl/Ludwig rep and ask.

Just get some moving blankets then. I would think that you would be able to order covers through the Yamaha/Pearl, etc. catalogs though?

Yeah we did that in band camp. It worked out great. Just get some old blankets or towels, that are long, and safety pins.

As Divalish pointed out, get the movers blankets. You should contact a Uhaul or other moving company in your area and see how much they cost. I don't think they are that expensive. One word of advice on those, get the lighter colored ones as they won't absorb as much heat and transfer it to the keys.

The movers blankets are better than anything besides cases just because they have some padding on them and they are extremely durable.

Well, the only differences between the three are this:

Economy: 15 oz filler/yard
Standard: 36 oz filler/yard
Premium: 38 oz filler/yard

Whatever that means.

The difference in them is how much filler they put in each one. I would think you'd be fine with the standard.

I really just want the covers that usually come with the pit instruments. I believe they look better. We have tried the blankets and that is ok for practice but not when we are going to a contest.

Why would you take a cover to contest? Leave those in the truck.

I still don't understand. Are you going to be pushing out the instruments onto the FIELD with the covers on? Like the Cavies do for their victory concerts?

No, we are not going to be pushing our instruments with the covers on. We have tried blankets and they have not worked for the look we want to have. We want the instruments to look professional with the covers that usually come with the instrument upon purchase. I know blankets can be cheaper but I am just trying to find something else that will be similar to some of the covers we have now.

I am needing these types of covers.

Two vibe covers
Two xylophone covers
Chimes Cover

I have found a chime cover and a possible xylophone cover but I am still looking for a better deal or a better price.

Nice idea...in theory. However, my personal opinion is that no matter how professional the covers look, it's not going to look very professional when you have to practically lay on the instruments so that the wind doesn't blow the covers away. And yes, the "real" Yamaha keyboard covers blow away VERY easily. We tried doing that for indoor while in the parking lots, and the covers ended up flying away anyway.

The Adam covers that we have for our marimba have worked really well and I was wondering if anyone knows where I could find them?

What looks unprofessional about moving blankets? If you get the same ones for your entire group, they'll look the same. Most of the corps use the packing blankets and I don't think they look unprofessional.

Besides, isn't it about how well your pit plays as opposed to how they look?
