Nice idea...in theory. However, my personal opinion is that no matter how professional the covers look, it's not going to look very professional when you have to practically lay on the instruments so that the wind doesn't blow the covers away. And yes, the "real" Yamaha keyboard covers blow away VERY easily. We tried doing that for indoor while in the parking lots, and the covers ended up flying away anyway.

What looks unprofessional about moving blankets? If you get the same ones for your entire group, they'll look the same. Most of the corps use the packing blankets and I don't think they look unprofessional.
Besides, isn't it about how well your pit plays as opposed to how they look?
