usually i tap the feet or hands, last year, i learned all of a solo on my feet and could play the harder parts better because of it. if i have some sticks and no pad, the crossed leg and shoe works pretty good.

I hear you all. Every year before the homecoming game, everyone know how the drum part sounds because I keep running through it! I just use either my index fingers, or the sides of my thumbs though. you could also try listening to Basic Strokes by SCV and trying to mark time to it.

the people on drumline at my school all have the same classes, so we usually break into a cadence or beat in the middle of class on the desks

drives the teachers nuts

if trying to learn a new excercies or a new tenor around pattern i just bring the music from class to class and go over the stickings.

this is so funny. hahaha. i usually just shake my legs and not really think... but the drumming on chest or wrist exercises/stretches sound fun and distracting for a boring class

Yes, we do that to, but nobody knows the people doing it are all in drumline at my school.

I've usually just played with the hands. It's amazing how much this will actually help. Playing diddles and such because there is no rebound to speak of, your forcing yourself to try harder. It helped me.

I practice in all my classes. I'm not even in band this term, but I do it anyways, and have often been in trouble for it. My school isn't very band oriented. We have a whole one percussionist in it this term. I often find myself pulling my music out in the middle of class because people are always asking stupid questions. We have a lot of music this year, especially with only two percussionists playing in that concert. This Thursday we have our first drumline practice so I guess I'll be playing with the sides of my thumbs more often.
