I have been drumming for 2 years. I have already noticed some loss. After a question from another person, I have to tell them to repeat it sometimes. Atleast im losing my hearing in a good way

yea I have, I played tenors last year and our snare basically did nuthin but play shots, then when I started to wear plugs, it seems as if he just got louder, and I don't know if y'all have ever went to sleep in the bh and had guys right there in your ear crashin the cymbals real loud, that'll work just as fine for losing your hearin

I have only one good ear. I am deaf in my left ear because of a disease that eroded the bones that vibrate to let you hear words. It feels like im not getting the full sound of the world. I mean when I am in the car I have radio turned up so I can hear the words to a song. When I am on the field I am told I am to loud and I dont realize it. I play timps during concert and it is very hard to tune during rests so everybody protect your hearing because if you lose it you lose music.

i only wear one earplug(in my left ear) because i am on the right end of the snareline and there aren't usually any drummers past me. Also with my earplug in, I can hear my centersnare better.

It doesn't matter which side of the line you are on, it it to protect you from the sound of the closest drum(s). In other words, yours. Wear both.

I have a little hearing loss... it sucks.. we practice in like a concrete building with a decent size drumline. It's hard to put those plugs in though, it sounds so good without them sometimes.

Ya im going on my fifth year, and alot a lot of times people have to tell me things a few times before I can fully understand. I hate it cause I feel like a retard. BTW ACVAHSdrummer Im sorry you have to go through that, it makes me realise how fortunate I am.

i've been drumming for 6 years, and my hearing is noticalby going down the drain, i have to say what like 3 times before i hear it all the way. but, i guess thats one of the consequences. its funny, one time our band director, asked the drumline a question, during band class, and were in the back of the room, and we all said " what" at the same time it was hilarious, so i guess im not alone.

It's so annoying when you have a lot of people on the line who won't wear earplugs. They say it doesn't hurt, but they don't realize that it is something that is gradual. The just laugh it off, I worry.

While we're at this I was wondering if I go a tad off to left field. I am worried I might be hurting my pets' ears. Practicing rim shots outside seems to bother them. Any comments?
