ALL DVD Format for 2004 World Championships WGI Sport of the Arts is pleased to announce that an all DVD format will be used for the 2004 Sport of the Arts World Championships video products! Each DVD will be packed full of performances and some brand new features. Adding to the excitement is the new low price. These DVDs will be available at half the cost of the video products of years past.
WGI will utilize two companies to produce the 2004 DVDs. TP Film Creations from Louisville, Kentucky will be responsible for producing all color guard finals shows as well as all DVD graphics, bonus features and effects. Joyco Multimedia from Arvada, Colorado will produce the percussion finals shows. Joyco Multimedia is familiar with the indoor percussion activity through producing video coverage of the Rocky Mountain Percussion Association Circuit Championships.
The steps WGI is taking to assure higher quality this year include digital production from acquisition to delivery, meaning a better picture and sound on your monitor. Additional cameras have been added to both the color guard and percussion sites to offer more action packed and unique views of the Sport of the Arts World Championships. TPFC has acquired a world class crew from across the nation of top notch camera and sound people as well as directors. John Flower, Executive Producer for TP Film Creations said, "TPFC is extremely pleased about the crew we have assembled for this year's show."
Bonus features included on the DVDs will include footage from the four WGI Power Regionals and some of the 2004 Percussion Regionals, as well as several original 30 second segments geared towards participants. TPFC wants to catch the performers in candid moments and show the home audience what truly goes on behind the scenes. Some of this bonus feature footage will be previewed on the big screen TVs during the 2004 Sport of the Arts World Championships.
It just simply wasn't feasible to continue producing both formats. By embracing DVD, WGI was able to reallocate saved funds towards other improvements in the show, and ultimately cut the price of the discs in half.
Once the last medal has been handed out at the final retreat of the Sport of the Arts World Championships weekend, TPFC and Joyco Multimedia start making your memories come to life. The 2004 Sport of the Arts World Championships DVDs are now on pre-sale at a discounted price of $49.00 per volume, plus shipping, only until April 18. You can place your order by visiting the shop@wgi.org
Just saw that article while on the wgi.org website. The new "formats" of the DVDs themselves seems like a pretty good idea. However, upon looking further at the "details" most of them apply just to the World Guard units, and not Percussion.

It would be nice if the Perc groups had the same camera options that the guard units do (of those that have them that is) but I think the "bonus" footage is interesting if they catch anything good at the regionals. The best result though? $59.00 as opposed to $99.00 for each volume. How they're 'sorting' them might be another issue...but really though...even the options from before weren't stellar either so oh well.
