I talked to my percussion instructor about doing winter and softball. Since he said he needed mallet players I said yes. After that my section leader has been acting weird around me. We never joke around with each other anymore after practice or during class. I really don't know what is up with her but I want to help her also. Next year I might be section leader with her and I don't want things to get weird.

I feel like if I ask her what's going on she will freak out ven more. She seems a little mad at me since I did winter. I have no absolute idea why though. She needs him in spanish and since I already took that class I'm going to help her for exams. That time maybe I can do something to ask her what's going on.

look,
there has to be communication between u and ur section leader. especially if you're gonna be a section leader next year. if she freaks, thats only an initial reaction to how she feels. u cant let sore feelings fly in ur section. especially when there's someone of higher standings involved. i would definitely talk to her. if there's a problem u see, address it. thats the only way it will get fixed. u cant let the little things slip by, because u wont believe how hard it will be to get the bigger things accomplished when u have the little problems to work out. i would get it fixed as soon as possible.

well, i think i know what's the matter. being a girl myself, i know how we feel. and so, i'm sure, do you. now, i think she may feel like your'e trying to take her place, since you're going to be SL with her next year. i mean, how would you feel if you were sectino leader and they decided you weren't good enough to do it by yourself, so they brought in someone else to be SL with you? she's probably mad cuz she feels like you're 'taking her place'.

just my opinion. good luck!

We have always had 2 section leaders in the pit before. It's nothing new. I talked to my band instructor and he told me upfront that I was a better player than her. Maybe she knows this and is scared. The thing is I don't know how to bring the problem up to her. I don't even know where to start.

lay it to her staright. they way i am is, the problem's gotta be fixed so i go straight to the root. the problem cant be overlooked. what u need to do is get u two alone for that exact purpose. then let her know that u see something goin on. elaborate if u have to. then sit back and listen to what she has to say. eventually it will come out, maybe not that first time, but u hafta keep communicating because u two are gonna be section leaders next year. communication is the big thing. u hafta to get all the crap outta the way before u start up the new season. u have an awesome frontline, but right now with those feelings flyin, someone turned up the gas and she's strikin the match. u get what i'm sayin? u have to either put urself in the position to turn off the gas, or get some buckets ready when it all blows up. just give it to her straight. if u have to, get all the section leaders and or instructors together and bring it to her in a "meeting" setting. i can go on and on about this so if u wanna e-mail or catch me on AIM u got my screen name and e-mail addy. peace.

I talked to my section leader and she told me everything was fine. She was under stress from exams and everything. I still don't think that she told me everything since she still acts weird. I have no idea how to get her trust. I thought I had her trust but maybe not. I still don't know how to approach that there might be something else wrong with her. I guess she does not want to tell me or something. Maybe since she was section leader with another senior this past fall and last winter she thinks I'm taking her turf or something.

GUYS HELP!!!!!!!

At this point I wouldn't take things too personally. Judging from what you've said, it sounds like she definitely has something going on that has nothing to do with you or the drumline. You definitely did the right thing by talking to her though. Leave the door open and be there for her should she decide to talk. Sounds like you're handling things the right way...
