I would recommend doing Google searches and making sure that you only get reliable information from accredited sources. You could get all sorts of incorrect information by just asking around on a web forum.

Personally, I have completed a report on the History, Construction, and Physics of Modern Marching Percussion instruments. I would give you the link to that presentation, but it's more fun and more educational to find this stuff on your own and develop your researching ability.

Here's a hint though, check out the American Legion/VFW post-World War I.

Oh that's just Cruel Johnny! I think The entire Marching Band/ Drum Corps stuff started like in 1920's or so, maybe 1940's after the "war to end all wars" era. The two most noticed for these beginnings are The Commandants Own and I believe the first like Corps in competition today is the Cavaliers but I'm not completely sure I know The entire thing of Marching came into effect during the Early wars in Early America, like the French & Indian and Revolutionary Wars.

The oldest existing competitive junior drum corps in the US is the Cadets(founded 1934), followed closely by the Madison Scouts(founded 1938).

And please don't call me Johnny

Excellent PowerPoint presentation, my friend. I like your conservative use of all the whistles and bells of PPT so as to not distract from the content.

Why thank you, kind sir.

Didn't take but 30 minutes to make the whole thing, either. Weird, as I had never used PPT before I completed this project.
