hey guys, just wondering if anyone had any idea about renting keyboards. we're not looking to buy a new marimba or anything (becuase it should be coming next year...) but for a shoe in for the time being we'd like to have some decent keyboards to use.

if any knows about any decent keyboard stuff for rent, or equipment in good shape for sale in the maryland area. i'm still researching further information about this, this is my first spot to try and get some info in case theres any contacts in the area that could work for us...

oh yea, we're looking for vibes and a xylo.
thanks...

I know that some music retailers will set up a lease program so that you dont have to pay for stuff all at once.

Whenever we needed extra percussion equipment, our band director called up his friend and our former director. They had recently bought all new equipment, so they lent us their old stuff to use until this year. Luckily, my alma mater got a grant from the local Meijer store for $40,000, for new marching percussion (Hes getting Premier, even though our Yamahas are only 5 years old), new Premier timpani/vibes, and new marching brass.

See if your director is friends with or went to school with anyone in the immediate vacinity, and if they will let you borrow those two boards.

Try Steve Weiss music. They rent to schools and orchestras (just not to individuals). I think it's www.steveweissmusic.com you can write him an email and you should get a response pretty fast.

Is Drums Unlimited Rentals still around? They used to be a drum shop in Bethesda. They closed the store but I thought the rental part of the business was still around.

I think the rental place was in Silver Spring.

in response to the post above: yes.

back to the original post:
if you have any of these music stores near you:

· Brook Mays Music Co.
· Caldwell Music Co.
· Dunham's Music
· Duncan Music
· H & H Music Co.
· McFadyen Music Co.
· McMurray Music
· Pearson Music Co.
· Zeswitz Music

they may have them, being part of the Brook Mays Group. Not necessarily though. I was looking around on the Brook Mays website and they have rental programs...I know they have procedures for schools to order equipment, but I don't know if they rent to them. I know they rent to individuals though. Coincidentally, I may be taking a trip to the Zeswitz in Reading sometime within the week. not that that really helps you...but oh well...

Sorry little pit girl but I live in southern cali too and I don't think that there is any place around here that rents marimbas, you might look in the classifieds and see if there is a marimba that isn't too expensive. Depending on whether you want a 4 4.3 4.6 or 5 octave instrument. Would you be able to go to your school to practice during the summer?

I have to agree with EhJayKim. There is no where in southern california that would rent out a marimba or etc. Its more likely you would either have to use the school instrument or buy one yourself. Good luck trying to rent one in Soth Cali
