I've heard about lines around here having trouble with a wet sound on their Dynasties. What do you mean a wet sound. I have heard this expression many of times and never have got what it meant.

Well... I haven't played them, but I want a DFXT really bad... and I'm probably going to purchase one around Spring Break or Summer time. Everyone is complimenting the sounds & durability, so I'll go ahead and leave it at "I agree 100% with what the people above have said." But, I also adore the look of Dynasty drums. They are sleek. Especially the snares. Tenors & Basses can't get much of a different look, except they do have nice-looking lug casings. But the snares, oh jeez... I love how the tension rods don't run all the way up the drum. This allows for more of the "shell" to show. And the shell is probably the prettiest part of any drum, especially if it's a shell you've customized. They also look even sleeker with hardware of your choice, whether black or silver powder coated, or chrome (which is a personal favorite of mine on Dynasty drums). The Dynasty drums are durable, can be tuned however you wish, and look sleek & contemporary (not to mention, outstanding). Heck, even a plane ol' white Dynasty drum with silver powder coating looks magnificent (to me anyways). There's just something different about Dynasty. I guess it's got a lot to do with the lugs, most other brands of drums have length-running lugs which provides a different look. I love Dynasty, and I don't even have one. (But will soon, hopefully). Sorry for rambling, it's the late hours of the evening for me.

I still do not understand how some lines can be having problems with getting a wet sound, and who are they? I would say that they keep either their bottom snares loose or if they have top snare heading system then they might keep them loose as well.

Some thoughts: First, The harness that Dynasty provides with their drums leaves a bit to be desired, but the company seems to be making big strides in all that they do, so with time I'm sure they'll put out something better. (If you look at bd over the last few years, they appear to still be using the Yamaha vest carriers) Also, There are a few people posting about how good bd's drums sound and that should be enough to make you buy Dynasty. Please keep in mind that like many others out there, the staff at bd and other top corps is quite talented and creative, and could make a cardboard box sound like a top quality drum if the situation presented itself. The conclusion of most of the posts on here are pretty clear, you need to check them out in person. Also, if you're not too comfortable tuning your own drum, have someone else help you out, because you wont get that "bd sound" right out of the box.

BD has been using the Dynasty vest carriers (which have been rediesigned now back in 04) since they switched to Dynasty in 2000. They have not used a Yamaha carrier while on Dynasty. The design used to be similar, but had some noticable differences. It's quite possible you have not seen the design of the new carrier. The price is also much less than the tube carriers. I have seen more lines than just BD with Dynasty that have great sounding drums, so it's not just the people at BD.

I don't mean any offense to anyone in this post, but the Dynasty lug casings look weak to me. Altough they do have a super nice sound, I've always had a feeling about the lugs. Maybe it's just wierd assumption about the quality of them or something. They just look weak, especially on the snares. I think Dynasty drums only look good if they are custom wrapped or custom painted. Their stock colors are hideous. Can't complain about that lifetime warrantee though.
