My school curently does not have a winter line. I am a band director and I started a winter guard two years ago with two quality guard instructors. We took gold medals in my first year there in Regional A for WGASC. We got bumped up to AA, the top division for middle/junior high schools, this year and took fifth at finals. I want to start a winter drumline but quality drum instructors are harder to find then one might think. If you are in the Southern California area and looking for a job drop me a line. I am looking for someone with pit experience preferably a couple years out of high school and corps experience is a big plus. Although I teach Middle School I am a firm believer that if you set high expectations the kids will reach those expectations. I told my guard instructors when we first started at the middle school to treat them like a good high school and force them to reach those expectations. We had an off show at finals this year but had beaten everyone but one school throughout the year. mgagnier@valverde.edu or madkaraoke@hotmail.com If you don't mind calls before 8AM you can call and leave a message for me at the school (909)485-0790 ext.239 I would like to get started with a drumline program before the start of next year so don't hesitate. Michael Gagnier Director of Bands Vista Verde Middle School Moreno Valley, CA.

we have a gaurd (thats where I met my sweetie ) and we do have a winter drumline. I think you can get alot a lot out of winter drumline, so you can keep your chops built, while still in the drumline atmosphere

My school has an indoor winter drumline. It's not as intense as marching season, but it's still a lot of fun. We also allow the 9th graders from the junior highs to join up. We don't do any compititions though. I don't think there are any where I'm from. We preform at our bands concert. Also in summer vacation last year our DL got to play at the Hawks stadium. It was pretty cool.
