As I was preparing for work this morning, I got thinking -

Who else here is juggling a job with marching? What do you do? How do you manage your time effectively?

How rigorous is the schedule for either obligation?

Mine don't really coincide at all, as marching band does not meet every day.

Simple, Get a band schedule from your BD, take it to your manager, and say " I can't work on these days". Thats our BD's advice at least.

just to let you guys know, being a drummer, he meant to hit the rims, it's part of the effect. It changes it up a bit.

Loc: Florida, for now.
It's a little bit harder for me. Trying to find a job that will take in consideration that I go to college full time, have two ensemble rehearsals to attend, lessons, corps weekends and trying to add on indoor. Along with that, I also teach at local high schools so that blocks out a good couple of hours 3 nights a week, with competitions all day Saturdays. However, I do have a complete schedule that is blocked off for the normal times and I warn them weeks in advance for when a competition comes, or an audition or performance. It's all about being responsible and managing your time.

With all the rehearsals, competitions, and football games, I have band 5 days a week. Factor in homework, practicing and a job, and my schedule gets a little busy.

I used to work 15 hours during the summer. Now I work won day a week and one day on a weekend (usually Sunday). I work at a food mart (Discount Drug Mart), as a stock boy. Pretty good gig for a high school/first job. And our manager supports the band big time, so he is usually very understanding.

I work a 9-5 graphic designer job on weekdays and do DCA on weekends, it works out pretty good. I'd just like a closer corps…

After a few months of straight fried chicken almost every night it does get a bit old. But then you just start making new exciting creations
