So far I've just been putting stuff together with the rowl-off sounds, setting VDL to play, and then exporting and increasing the volume in another program.

What i do is, since it gets to loud sometimes,I turn it down in the mixer, then I make the mp3 of it and send it to iTunes, and select info, and set the Volume adjustment higher than normal, where it can still be heard, but doesn't make the crackling sound. The same could be used in Finale 09, if you make an mp3 of the cadence, or whatever, the turn the volume up in the adjustment. In an ensemble set however (trumpets, flutes, etc) Set all the non vdl instrument as low as you need, then adjust the volume again. That's what i do.

Did you try submitting this to Finale or posting it on the Finale forums to see if there is a fix to this?

I was having similar problems with volume, and the mixer thing fixed that. Now, I'm having problems with the maps. Whenever I enter notes for Tenor, I get X noteheads and the playback sounds like rimshots. Same for snare. There's a percussion map fix that finale put out, but it didn't work for me. I also opened up a support ticket with them and after several days of troubleshooting, they couldn't help. Here it is, incase it works for someone else.

My instructor is having rendering issues/major problems with Finale's VST, and won't let him create mp3's.
So far it seems like Finale '09 is being pretty buggy.

It's not buggy to me, it's just an audio issue. There may be something in his system that's causing those problems outside Finale though.
