Endorsements....

So, I've gotten back into a little teaching. I've never been a "great" player, but I REALLY enjoy teaching, and would like to help out my students a bit (let's face it, tapping can be expensive). I also plan to start doing some semi-annual perc clinics at a few high schools in my old hometown (neither school has EVER had a drum tech - not much $$ in my hometown - more of a "pass-it-forward" kind of thing).
How would one go about seeking endorsements from major manufacturers? What kind of benefits would those endorsements pass to my students? I'm not looking for any handouts - but anything to assist my kids in playing would be great.
TIA

There are different levels of endorsements with most companies. Each level offers different perks such as discounts on product, free product, clinic support, etc.
Most companies will contact you to see if you're interested in endorsing their product. The question you have to ask yourself, is what big time exposure can you offer to these companies? Teaching a couple of local lines that don't do BOA, or any other big competitions doesn't offer the company much of an incentive.
You can try contacting the various companies, but make sure you're using product from the companies that you contact. If you contact VF and tell them you love their products, have been using them for years, then send them a picture of a line you teach with IP sticks, you're shooting yourself in the foot.

Yeah, there really isn't much of an incentive for them, since it would all be small time exposure. But there are def a few companies I prefer, and make my students play with those products. Thanks for the info.

Local music stores typically don't offer endorsements. Not sure what they'd have to offer really.
What local music stores typically do however is offer discounted prices to the schools that buy from them.

Yeah - I used to have a local store that gave my kids discounts, but then management changed and they quit doing that. It's tough - I teach in a very poor area, and even getting kids to get a pad is a challenge more than 50% of the time.

Haha... I've never seen a drumline do this. But I used to be a foreign exchange student. And one kid paid his tuition by wearing an advertising shirt all the time. He broke up different parts of the shirt and sold the area for a different companies logo or whatever. Like the front was really expensive, the back was too, and the sleeves were a little cheaper, and the sides had a price, too. But, you could do this for a whole drumline. Make shirts and sell off a section of it for advertising, and just make it you're drumline shirt that you wear to all comps and run-throughs. It helps companies by getting their name out to large groups of people, or people that wouldn't normally see their advertising, and it can help pay for expeses of the line.
