Has anyone bought a used drum corps snare before? I'm looking to buy a marching snare and think that might be one of the best ways to get one. What you do all think?

Yea, where can you buy the old equipment? Just get lucky to find the corp selling one day?

Yeah I think thats the way it works. Probably though the next couple weeks I'm going to start looking though a ton of different corps web sites. Correct me if I'm wrong though

Some corps sell their stuff directly. The Blue Stars recently had their old battery for sale on their web site and you'll see DCA corps sell their stuff from time to time. But with the way sponsorships & endorsements work with DCI corps, it's more common for drums to get sent back to the manufacturer to get evaluated & reconditioned. The manufacturers, in turn, send them to resellers to liquidate. Fork's Drum Closet gets a lot (all?) of Pearl's returned gear. Chops Percussion had a few corps' old Yamaha battery drums for sale. Columbus Percussion had a number of DCI & WGI batteries for sale -- mostly Dynasty if I remember correctly.

Forks still had the whole Phantom '07 line, unfortunately they didn't have anything to the effect of buying just one snare at a time.

Skydog is right, to add. dont look for the battery drums from this year now. Corps do not get replacement drums till next spring. till then what they have is what they use through the winter. usually you see the corps drums pop up mid spring to mid summer. So right around now you would see the 2007 drums. Some Yamaha and Dynasty corps will sell the drums through the corps . but most don't, they are turned in to the manufacture and refurbished as Skydog said. I would look on Ebay first, you can get a better deal. sometimes the corps drums are beat up pretty bad and are not worth the money. just something to keep in mind.

Bryaxxe1, I suggest calling Forks. I did buy one of the PR snares. I live here in TN, so I was able to pick it up the same day I called in the order. The total for one snare was around $370 if I remember correctly. Well, I did call. They couldn't sell me a phantom snare, but I did get a Spirit 07 snare for 215. I was pretty stoked.
