I was just looking at one of the hybrid lessons on the Vic Firth site, and noticed Jeff Queen using this Pearl practice pad that resembled a Slimpad. Anybody have any info on this? Check it out here

These things rarely sell for "list price" or course. I'm guessing it'll be available for a little under $40.

I'm pretty sure I played the one in one the left in Dayton, not sure if they had the one on the right. I don't remember being overly impressed, but I don't think it was bad.

It's two sided. Oh, I hadn't noticed that. They just had it flipped to the side with less rubber. edit: Gernads, might have to do with stick angles/rimshots, like Vic's Exactopad.

What is the point of that different side with the weird zones up towards the front of the pad? The two strips at ~5 and 7 o'clock are for rim shots. The strip at 12 o'clock is for dimenuendo rolls from the center out toward the edge. The strip at ~2 o'clock is, I believe, an alternate dimenuendo roll path -- directly over the snares for slightly more snare response as the volume drops.
