I was just looking at one of the hybrid lessons on the Vic Firth site, and noticed Jeff Queen using this Pearl practice pad that resembled a Slimpad.

Anybody have any info on this?

Check it out here

Nevermind I found it. My bad.
EDIT: It's pretty sweet. Has it been released? Are there any reviews? Where can I get it? :P

id buy it... it looks like the closest thing i can get to an old slim pad. my old one broke (long story), and now i have the new version. love the feel, hate that cut out part. i think its pointless.

Dang, that's a lot.
But considering what it is I'd definitely spend my money on it. It looks promising.

These things rarely sell for "list price" or course. I'm guessing it'll be available for a little under $40.

I'm pretty sure I played the one in one the left in Dayton, not sure if they had the one on the right. I don't remember being overly impressed, but I don't think it was bad.

They are the same pad. It's two sided.

What is the point of that different side with the weird zones up towards the front of the pad?

Oh, I hadn't noticed that. They just had it flipped to the side with less rubber.

edit: Gernads, might have to do with stick angles/rimshots, like Vic's Exactopad.

The two strips at ~5 and 7 o'clock are for rim shots.

The strip at 12 o'clock is for dimenuendo rolls from the center out toward the edge.

The strip at ~2 o'clock is, I believe, an alternate dimenuendo roll path -- directly over the snares for slightly more snare response as the volume drops.
