...and here's my grip in "action."

thats not always my grip...i mod it a lot depending on different things. (stick size, where the drum is, march/concert,ect.) im using sd1s in this pic. bleh, sd1's. But i have small hands so my grip looks kind of wierd with ralphies i guess.

my instructor told us to use our thumb to control the sticks not our wrist. It is roughly like getting ur index and middle finger away from the stick to let the stick rebound more. Is this method useable?

That method is not widely used in American style rudimental drumming (DCI, college, WGI, etc.), but it is similar to the method used by many pipe band drummers.

then is there any difference or is this method playable? Because i dont wan to use the wrong method over and over again in my life. If for american style drumming grip, how do we control the stick? I mean using thumb or wrist?

Trick:
You seem too choked up on the snare stick in the first picture. Other than that, it looks pretty good.

Shattered: Why would there be anything wrong with Wessels grip when it was posted as the eptiome of a kick butt grip?

Im a big fan of ambidexterity when playing drums. I hate to see hand biased music, I dont know why it just buggs me. Ive been trying to work on me left handed tecnique and its getting better but if anyone hes any good left hand strengthining exersises, please let me know!

Finally I have a picture of my left hand grip. Please tell me what you think.

From that angle, looks pretty good, Swiss. I think the middle finger is a little too stiff, but really, it is good.
