Although studying with Nancy would be a phenomenal opportunity, going to Berklee would be more like a conservatory atmosphere which he's not looking for.

Yeah, if you want a solid education I guess so. Most people that are doing education stay away from conservatories though because you can't get the degree to allow you to teach in schools other than other universites etc.

Berklee on the other hand is acredited, so you get an actual BA.

How much you learn on the otherhand is a differnt story because they ask that you have a 2.0 GPA minimum to go there wink

I have a friend who goes to Boston Conservatory (as you may or not know, TBC students have access to Berklee classes as well as TBC classes), and he said that it was the type of school where a student needs to have a lot of their own direction or else they may end up feeling lost (because there are just SO many avenues to take; undergrad marimba performance, many genres of drum set and vibraphone, contemporary percussion, studio work, a mixture of any and all of those, etc.).

Check out Butler and Ball State.

If you can get into Butler and afford it they have a great music program. It's smaller it's a great campus and the atmospheres great.
Our current instructor goes to ball state. From what I know it is one of the best places to get a teaching degree from in Indiana. Their Music Ed program is also very good.
