I haven't marched in years, but I used to be part of a Marching Band Drum Line and a Winter Line. My question is: Where could one go to compete again after they age out? I am 27 and have the urge to march again but I am not sure if there is anything out there for me. Anyone know? (Michigan area would be helpful, but I am just looking for information.)

They compete in the DCA circuit which is all age. More information about DCA is at http://www.dcacorps.org.

just to let you guys know, being a drummer, he meant to hit the rims, it's part of the effect. It changes it up a bit.

DCA is a good scene for a lot of junior-age guys, too. If you want to drum competitively but have other commitments, can't make the commute to a junior corps, or don't want to spend a few grand, there's no better option. There are also the guys who learn the ropes with an all-age corps before doing the all-day-all-summer DCI thing (and sometimes returning to DCA).

No matter your age, the DCA scene is a blast. Lots of good guys from all over the country, from different eras and backgrounds, getting together to drum and hang out. What's not to like?

Like DCI, there's a huge range when it comes to corps' competitive quality. There are the smaller or upstart groups who could be DCA's equivalent to DCI's former Division III, like the Lakeshoremen. But there are also groups like the Reading Buccaneers who wouldn't look out of place among DCI World Class corps.
