So I wanted to make a thread to discuss how well the Blue Knights have been doing, but I figured I would just make a new topic on all corps who seem to be surprising people. As I mentioned before, Blue Knights seem to be doing particularly well this season. Anyone seen them live? Also, Crown took 2nd place overall as of 7/11, and I definitely didn't see them jumping from 6th to 2nd in one large stride. Any other rankings, scores. or corps that surprise you?

...Blue Knights? I was actually surprised at how POOR they were doing this year. I saw them in Madison and couldn't believe it.

I am indeed happy for the Blue Stars that they are doing so well... way ahead of Colts and Spirit now, and just ahead of Glassmen... but I can't say I was surprised. I knew ahead of time. smile

Crown over Cadets in Orlando. I could live with that being the last surprise of the season unless they can really bust it out and start beating some more of the big boys. If the scores are any indication, it seems VERY possible.

Blue Stars are indeed doing well, and I am judging Blue Knights on how they rank in the standings. I won't be able to see BK, however.

Also, I have to say I was personally surprised by the gap between Phantom and Cavaliers. It was about 2 points last night in Denver. Their average score dropped by 2 in the last week.

I was at that show, & Crown was amazingly amazing. The Cadets musically have a great show, its just all the talking get REALLY annoying. & the ending sux. After watching Crown I expect them to go far this year. The show is very entertaining and everybody in the crowd loved it.

So Carolina Crown is in 4th Overall right now, behind the Cadets by .267. I would just like to state for the record that seeing Carolina win for what I believe is the first time ever would be the most amazing DCI moment I will have ever experienced.

Nover, that ranking system means nothing until the regionals in which everyone competes against each other. I get the scores and rankings by email, and its fun to see how a corps can jump places from one night to the next.

I was also in orlando, and had a blast seeing old drumcorps buddies and meeting new people. Those of you I met..it was a pleasure!

But yeah..Crown! Jeeeeeebus! They were awesome. I'm not gonna lie, they were the best corps out there....and beating cadets..I saw it coming. Lets see how they do in san antonio.

use that to easily track where corps have come/gone night to night.

but in response to BK doing well, They got 6th in 06, 8th in 07.. so 9th right now would be standard for them.

the only corps to have moved up out of thier brackets from last year
crown (woot)
Blue stars
PacCrest

Believe me, I have that website bookmarked. My home page is the rankings page on DCI.org. And concerning the Blue Knights, keep in mind, I was just introduced to drum corps not too long ago. 2006, maybe? And this is the first year I'm really getting into DCI, so I'm not as stocked up on DCI History as some of you experts.

Well, I know I say this a lot, but YouTube videos do not value much of an opinion. But I saw both of their shows on YouTube, I have them on my Ipod. They're very even, but Crown has more "moments" then the Cadets, if you know what I mean. There's a lot more percussion involvement with Crown too. I think they'll expand their lead and move onto working on BD in a week or so. I don't know, just wait for San Antonio...

I saw both Crown and Cadets back at the Chesapeake, VA show. Crown's drumline was dirty as sin at that one. Well, maybe not THAT bad, but their exposed parts were nowhere close to being clean. Crown's writing has them in a good position to gain a lot of points in that caption with some cleaning and dynamics.

Don't forget Crossmen. They were 16th last year and now are soundly defeating Colts (10th last year) and Spirit (12th last year).

Yeah, Xmen are my 'hometown' corps and I was really getting down about their numbers until they started this surge. Fingers crossed they'll be in finals!

I'm impressed with Crossmen, definitely. But I keep hearing great things about the Glassmen, too. They were pretty tight in the beginning, but now, according to the rankings of DCI, they've spaced out a little. Crossmen are 13th right now. Last year, about this time, they were 17th, so they're obviously making progress.

I liked Crossmen, but I still am loving what Crown is doing this year, they got 4th in Atlanta, and when they announced it everyone booed because they thought they were to low. They had a GREAT show that night.

i agree as much as i love cadets more than anything theyre not doin hot this year...the overall concept is just wasnt thought out all the way. any they barely play elegy i think if they did the whole song instead of pieces they would have scored higher especially in ge. cadets suprised my this year with how poor theyre doing

Biggest surprise of the year is the CT Hurricanes. Congrats to them for coming out smoking this year and beating some of DCA's elite. I'd love to see them take it all.
