So in 2006, I bought one of these old slimpads at DCI finals.

Later on, vic firth replaced the model with THIS newer version

I want to get a laminate for MY pad, but I don't know if the laminate is for this new, cut version or a full circle. Would it matter if there was some pad left un-laminated?

Also, I got bored and cut a few notches into the top of my pad - one for every year I marched. They only come down to about the same place as the "new" slimpads start. Each cut is like 2 centimeters deep. Will the laminate cover them or come up short? Do you think it matters?

The laminate at Steve Weiss

Ideas?

it will be fine slap the laminate on and have a blast playing the laminates aren't the same diameter as the pad is anyway it is a little smaller. I'm sure the lamininate are made to fit the new pad now too just so you know.

Too me, if a pad is beat up & crapped out, & works, it's cool. I like seeing worn out pads, shows use & character like an old cymbal. As long as the pad still works & provides you with a good surface to work with, that's what matters, laminate or not. I think I would throw it away if it had splinters though. I have an old yellow double sided real feel that just won't quit. It bakes everyday in the hot sun in the back of my truck. Still works like a charm, one of the best pads made. The slimpad & stockpads are really great too, tough & dependable.

they might only cover to where its cut of on the new ones but what does it matter
just turn the oncoved part toward you so you can still play at the edge (if thats your concern) and youll be fine

butternuts...get the laminate, they're awesome. they come in a full circle, so it will fit your pad fine. as for the notches, it will probably come right up to them and maybe overlap a miniscule amount. if it does cover them, you could always just cut notches in the laminate. anyways you should definately get it. order it soon though so you have for to'.

***by the way, it's jason
