This past season, I have had troubles playing double stroke rolls at a higher tempos keeping my fingers ON the stick. I know that I would have to sit down and do the same motion over and over, but I just don't know what to focus on. Any advise??

Personally, I don't think that your back fingers slightly coming off the stick is a problem at high tempos. Too me at the higher tempos that is naturally going to happen. I would approach someone at your school such as the instructor or a veteran to find out exactly what style of playing do they want for the higher tempos. Some lines are more wrist oriented some are more fingers oriented.

I would start playing doubles at an easy pace & bump it up 2-5 clicks ever so often trying to keep the fingers on the stick as much as possible. I think it is good habit to keep all fingers on the stick as much as possible, but for me at the extreme tempos this has been impossible for me.

For rolls at very fast tempos, you're pretty much only applying pressure to the stick with your index finger and thumb. Tempos a little lower than that, maybe just the index and middle finger. However, for the sake of consistency of technique, your fingers should stay in roughly the same place even if they're not actually pushing on the stick. That way, they're ready to go when it's time to use them again. So keep those pinkies curled under even if you're not using them, and don't be out to tea!
