It sounds like Finale.
But it's amazing.

Is there any way to get a better recording of this, I would love to get a better listen to it, but the soundfont (Sibelius's fault not yours) is really bad. Bunch of distortion etc..

In regards to the composition itself: You may want to consider an extended introduction (before the first drum break) A chord sequence featuring a sustained dissonance before a resolution on a long chord is something often seen. (Sometimes the opposite is done ex. Cavaliers 06')

Also I would consider extending the release of the note at 1:00 by an eighth note (so it is one eighth note in the next bar) so the percussion and winds release at the same time (something hard to evaluate w/o a score). Also after that measure or so of space, I was on the edge of my seat expecting a tutti ensemble impact. Instead, there was a second drum break, you may want to add a snippet of full material before that break so you can release the tension built by breaking at a non-cadence point.

These are just opinions and you don't have to think anything of them. I do think that you have a great start and I would love to hear the final product of it.

While that's an admirable goal to have, I suggest that you try to make the most out of each show you write. Try to make something stand out; something that the audience (and judges) will look at and say is new and exciting.

What you have, as I said, is a great start. However, it still needs much work and many revisions to realize its full potential. (It's also hard to talk about this specific piece due the to recording quality, it's very hard to hear inside the texture)

Always ask yourself what sets this apart from the rest of the pack. Ask why would I pick this show for my band over something from another composer. Strive to make every note worth something and contribute to the musical whole.

No personal offense to you, but if I were to listen to this movement (assuming it was as a part of a show, in it's final form and after being composed in a day) I would nod my head, make a note to look for this composer in future years and put this show in the "no" pile. BUT, if it were to be refined and perfected I might take a second listen, then tag it as a "finalist" to be heard in a meeting with the entire staff.

What I'm trying to tell you is to be weary of composing something in one day. While you material is great, I see it as a diamond in the rough so to speak. Something great that just needs to be refined.

DO NOT let this dissuade you or your goal. You have a future in composition, and I suspect that band directors will be hearing your name soon.
