I have just been asked to be the drum captain. But same for other people the director is interviewing. Does anybody have an idea of what they may be asking, and give me some tips that they would like?
Thanks

Typical questions would include:
-How would you handle unmotivated peers
-How would you handle peers that are unresponsive to all of your requests
-List 3 of your strengths
-List 3 of your weaknesses
-What will you bring to the section as a leader

Just a few off the top of my head since I'm at work.

Most of the questions you will recieve will be based apon leadership, but you should be ready for other random questions being thrown out to see if you can handle "curveballs" as well as both negative and positive questions.

Your BD is going to look at why you will help the band, not yourself. Avoid talking about why you deserve it. Talk more about how you could do the most for the band.

Leadership will definitely be brought up, Talk about your strengths definitely, a big thing to include is ways you have been active in making the group as a whole better. If you have helped a fellow line member with learning music teaching them stickings, helping them with drill. Things like that, that show you have been active in making sure everyone is doing well is a good thing to mention.

As NightMusic said, the band director is looking to see how you can help the band, but it is ok to talk about why you think you deserve it, becuase that may be one of the questions he asks you. If you think you deserve it becuase of strong leadership skills such as... (always give examples. You have to back up what your saying)

Regardless of how the interviewer phrases the question, be sure to respond without using the term "deserve". "Earned" or similar is a much less entitled way of presenting your accomplishments and future aspirations of said results.

While you can view this as semantics, word choice is very important not just to teachers, but potential employers as well. There's a difference between being an ambitious, accomplished individual without sounding like a pretentious, self-serving clown.

Good luck!

Don't think too much or get too worried about what you'll be asked. There's a reason the director wants to interview you, meaning you've apparently already shown some of the qualities he's looking for. Trust your instincts and let the chips fall where they may.

But with that said, there are a few things to keep in mind...

First and foremost, in a leadership role, the group comes first. To borrow a thought from snarepaint's (excellent) post, it's not about you or what you "deserve". It's about the group and what you can contribute.

Also, be confident -- or at least act like it. Remember they're looking for a leader. If a leader doesn't seem confident in himself, do you think others would be inclined to follow him?

I emphasize being confident. I get what SkyDog means, but in any interview you MUST be confident in who you are and your abilities.
