Why can't it die? Same reason that Pachelbel's Canon, Bach's Toccata in D Minor (well, allegedly Herr Bach's), Mozart's operas and requiem, Schubert and Schumann's lieder and drum corps jokes about John Cage's 4'33" won't die. People like them, they're well written, and newer isn't always better.

I don't disagree with any of that, I guess there's just part of me that hopes maybe one day I can get through a band season without hearing some no talent high school kid butcher it in the lot.

Pretty much. Even from just hearing it, too, there are some notes that sound like they were just thrown in randomly, too, tenor/snare-mixed wise, like a "oo..this would be cool to play." I would hope it needs to sound good, too.
They should work on Ditty all summer discretely, and in the lot on Finals night, play it, even 2 times maybe. Same with Vanguard on Wheelchair, although I'd be much more interested if they did that with Wheelchair than BD doing Ditty.
I've heard rumors (of course rumors aren't the way to go..) that Murray has actually remixed Martian Mambo a little, though, so I guess look out for that on-the-field. I doubt it, though.

I do agree, you hear some snareline at ever show try to hack through it, knowing its above their heads. It does get a little tiring. I role my eyes every time I see a line attempt it. Sorry maybe i'm harsh too.
