I want to seperate bass 5 notation from bass 1-4.
ex: bass 1 is doing triplets but bass is doing dotted quarter notes. How do I do that?

This is very simple to do. First you write one part (be it bass five or bass one) in the first "layer". Then on the lower left hand corner there are four numbers with the number 1 having some kind of special indication that you are using it. These are your layer buttons. To write the other part (say you just got done writing for bass one and now wanted to write bass five's part) you click the either 2,3, or 4 button. The writing now shows up as a different color on the computer and is completely independant from the first part. hope that answers your question.
