okay so I had an audition for the six flags drumline today.

Get this....

They were planning on having 1 person play 3 basses like tenors.
Is it just me Or have they lost there minds?!!?!?

Its just unrealistic and crazy and unconventional. They have a 16',20' and 24' bass for the line. Thats going to be very very heavy...they most likely weight about 20 lbs each ( give or take a few) so thats like 60 LBS !!!! talk about unrealistic for parades.

has anyone else ever played 3 basses at once like tenors??

hahaha that def is a dumb idea. if they can only find 1 person to play bass, then they should just have that guy play 1 large, low pitched drum.

at some point in time (i think in the early 90's) the bushwackers had some members in the bassline each carry 3 bass drums at once for their drum feature. but they were all small drums and were set up vertically.
...kinda like this guy...except they prolly played better

wow those sure are some little drums on the video, pretty cool though, but yea diffently a lot different then what they are planning to do with the 3 marching basses.

Not if you want different tones...but anyways...

I can't say that I have ever seen anyone play a triple stack, but double stacks are actually pretty common in my area. Now-a-days though you would probably see the drumline pitted rather than see someone marching multiple bass drums. Back in the 90's however, marching multiple basses was almost common in smaller ensembles.

this does sound like a bad idea. They probably don't have a good idea about how heavy that will be, but they sound like they don't care haha.

Wow, three drums? that's horrible. I remember trying to march with just 2 drums, and it was horrible.

Search for a group called the "Cool Pickles". They have a stacked marching bass. I personally would love to play a stacked, but the whole seeing over it would be an issue.

Are you thinking of "hip pickles"? Or is there another drumline with stacked basses called cool pickles too?
