Our school is really small, and so is our local middle school. It's difficult for us to continue our drumline program, because we're not very competitive yet. How can we supercharge our school so we can start cutting crappy players instead of accepting all?

Unfortunately, your trapped. It sounds like you need as many members as you can get. Sometimes theres a point where cutting crappy players isn't an option and you just have to teach them their crap.
EDIT:

Position: Snare/Battery Captain
Numbers: 3 Snares, 2 Tenors, 5 Basses, 5-15 pit
Size: way too small

-From State Your Status thread.
Do you really think that's small?! This year we had 2 snares, 1 tenor, 5 Basses, and 2 Pit. Our band is only 30-40 people. And next year were looking at 1 Snare, 1 Tenor, 3 Bass, No pit. Gimme a break. Were losing 15 seniors, and gaining almost no freshman. Please don't talk about small.

That was our winter season, and that's the biggest we've been. We're loosing basically half our line next year, we'll have three basses, and me for a snare.

This current season we have 1 snare, 1 tenor, 3 basses and 4 pit.

our tenors quit, i moved over, a snare quit, and basses were academically ineligible.

the reason i say this is a big deal is because the other bands in the area are huge! We're in the midst of a marching town, and we don't have any selection. it makes for a difficult situation in comparison to the other schools in the area. I appologize if it seems i'm making our situation seem worse than it is in contrast to yours.

WOW!!! Just freakin WOW! Did you read the rules at all when you signed up? I'm fairly confidant that there is a section in there that mentions to search first and ask second. You checked off that you read and agreed to follow the rules when you signed up. This topic and similar topics has been discussed already.
