I have a stock pad already & I am really trying to work on my rudimental skills. Do you guys suggest the Slimpad instead? I do live in an apartment...is the Slimpad too loud??

Would appreciate any insight from those who use them. Thanks.

After having played both, it doesn't really make a difference.

To be honest with you, I don't see the difference between the wo besides a miniscule difference in hardness from the stock to the slimpad. Either one will work fine, and if you're in an apartment and sound will be an issue, go with the quieter one.

The slimpad is pretty darn loud. If you really are worried about volume, just get the Reel Feel double sided pad and use the soft side.

Don't get a ReelFeel. There is absolutely no comparison.
Slim pads are amazing. They aren't that loud. Maybe really late at night. They're quieter than the Remo Tunable by far, if you know what I mean.

Yeah, I agree that slimpads are more realistic than a RF pad, but if he is so worried about volume, then the slimpad might be a bit loud. Oh well.

And don't get me started on those Remo tunable P.O.Ss. Those things are annoying as hell.

If you go with the slim pad you can just throw a towel over it to dappen the sound.

Take the laminate off when you want to play quiet.
Also it has a quiet (but less bouncable) side.

While there is a little difference in feel from model to model, most of the gum rubber pads are similar enough to get the job done. If you've already got a stockpad, I wouldn't shell out any more cash for a slimpad. (Especially if you want something that plays quiet.)

Personally, I like my old RealFeel.

My personal opinion, a pad is a pad. If your stock pad suits your purposes and enviroment, then why change?
