ok so of the three main brands of tenor covers, Dynasty, Yamaha, and Pearl, i am under the impression that any of them fits any other kind of tenors and was wondering which one is the highest quality considering we have a lot of gravel roads and just rough area where we march. opinions?

Not all covers fit other brands the same. for instance we have Yamaha covers on out Pearl tenors and the are not long enough they leave about an inch of shell on drums 3 and 4.


Each brand of cover has something i like. and something I hate. I like Pearl's because they are padded. but with padding comes weight, they also show dirt a lot more.

Yamaha's (black) covers aren't padded, just a thin layer of vinyl on the inside. They are lighter, pockets are a plus. Black doesn't show dirt as much, but they fade. (you used to be able to get them in colors. IDK now if you can anymore.)

Both water resistant. but in a soaking rain they make no difference.

Dynasty's, Premier's I have only seen, so I can't tell you anything about them.

I can tell you this, our Yamaha covers out lasted out Pearl's. The Pearl's didn't even fit our big block drums, it was too big on both sets of tenors. we had to modify them to fit.

I would go with Yamaha if I had a choice

I agree with multi-Thomm... my school uses Yamaha and even though im on bass.. our tenor covers are nice and ours get ruffed...snugglebunny...we practice in red clay and they still hold up. youll get more out of the Yamaha black covers than pearls or any other(my opinion)

Dynasty's covers aren't bad, they just lack padding, a consistent attachment system and the snare covers only really work on Dynasty drums because they aren't designed to compensate for the cages that Pearl and Yamaha have.

Yamaha's covers are the way to go, my school has them in red, but we did get them i think 4 or so years ago. they work amazingly

It depends on the brand you have. With all honesty, Yamaha is the way to go. Dynasty covers only really fit Dynasty drums, and I couldn't tell you anything about Pearl covers.

But as a rule of thumb, if you just needed something to work, either get covers from the same company as the drum, or, as was said quite impolitely above, make your own (the latter could be the cheapest really).

Dynasty has a similar problem with tenor sizing. They only have one tenor cover size, which is supposed to fit large and small sets of drums. But even adjusted as tight as they'll go, the covers are a little bit too loose on our small block drums. The covers kinda droop down off the front of the #1 and #2 drums. It doesn't seem like a difficult thing to fix, though.

Overall, Dynasty's covers seem pretty good and the price was right. Covers for our whole 4/2/5 line cost us less than $300 shipped from The Brass Shop.

If you need covers cheaper than that, you've got two options: (1) Take a trip to a fabric store to pick up supplies to make your own, or (2) try your luck with the cheap drum covers from McCormick's.

Making your own is a good idea, but of course, you either need to be a great at sewing or find someone who is. I know the "uniform moms" at the school I teach at are good at doing projects like this, unfortunately, not every school has such a large support group of parents. Good luck!

my school just got Yamaha, there pretty tough, have a pocket, and come in many colors!

The colors are nice but the pocket (on tenors at least) are near useless except for carrying small things like phones or earplugs.

The other tenor and I made our own covers. Just get 2 extra large shirts and stretch them over the 1 and 3 drums and 2 and 4 drums, then cut the excess. You can cut off a sleeve and make it a spock cover haha.

I like Dynasty's covers they aren't padded but they get the job done.

hmm my school uses Yamaha and they're not that bad IMO

we have Yamaha quints and we obviously have Yamaha covers we have had these for about 7 years. they have faded but they still work great. The are made so that you can wrap a small set tight or a large set semi tight and it will fit both sets.

not all fit you have to have the right sizes last season we used music city legends quads and we still have their covers and they dont fit mystiques drume which we bought and they are both Pearl

They're also useful for keeping drill charts within reach where you won't forget them. And I found that they can hold a styrofoam cup if you're in a big enough hurry to get back on the field after a gush and go and don't have time to throw it away lol.
