I visited USF and when I got around the music all the students had stick bags, pretty big ones, most of them had a black towel too, which I'd never seen and it got me wondering, I wonder what other people have in their bags. So, what do you keep in your bag that you take with you, as a concert percussionist, (you have one right?!)? Everything, keys, mallets sticks, towels, toys name it. No brands necessary, just what's in your bag.

I have:
4 Yarn Mallets
4 Cord Vibe Mallets
1 pair of Timpani Mallets
1 pair of Drumsticks
1 Wrench
1 Screwdriver
1 Drum Key

So what do you have?

Here's my collection:

-3 pairs snare sticks (one regular, one light, one terrible for things like rimshots and suspended cymbal crashes)
-1 pair brushes
-4 pairs rubber mallets
-10 pairs xylo/glock mallets (some for just xylo, some for just glock, some that cross over)
-10 pairs marimba mallets
-4 pairs vibraphone mallets
-15 pairs timpani mallets
-1 pair bass drum mallets
-2 triangles, set of triangle beaters and clip
-black towel, tuning fork, etc.

Usually I keep the timpani mallets in a separate case (a Freer case) from the rest of the mallets, and if I'm just going to be playing something where I only use one pair or two pairs of mallets, I won't drag the whole collection with me.

Err...

- 2 pair Jim Casella IP1003
- 2 pair various rubber mallets "borrowed" from my school, one doesn't quite match the rest.
- 2 pair marching sticks
- 2 pair concert sticks
- Generic practice pad
- Metronome
- Electric tape

</high school> ...but I'll expand it. I need some harder yarn mallets, who has any suggestions?

1 pair snare sticks
2 pair marching sticks
1 pair Hot Rods
1 pair drum set sticks
4 pair marimba mallets
2 pair vibraphone mallets
1 pair rubber mallets
1 pair xylophone mallets

My stick bag has a front pocket for music so normally my latest solo or lesson sheet goes in there. In the back pocket I have stick tape, a metronome, a drum key, a pencil, a sharpie, and earplugs.

Harder than 1003's? Those are pretty hard in their own respect, but if you want harder try Malletech CN26's, which are like freakin' rocks.
