One of our snare drummers is really good. But he just doesn't believe in himself enough to actually try harder. He puts him self down with saying's like, "Wow...I really suck", or "I shouldn't even be on snare.".

Whenever we try to help him, he says ,"I hate my life" or "I suck".

We want our line to get better, but we can't do that if one of our own isn't trying his hardest. He is very stubborn...does anyone have any words that you think will get his self-motivation up??

This sounds like me when i first came into the High School line. But mine was more because everything that went wrong was always my fault because i am the little eighth grader kid who shouldn't be on the line. What made me feel more confident was writing a cadence and then showing it to the line. Then we used it at our next show and when everyone was complimenting us is when everyone quit blaming it on me.
